Precious Moments

An old guitar plays against the walls of the world
a soft breeze unchains its melody
a children's swing touches the sky

under a fiery midday sun
Pan holds cattails and stars in his hands,
he whispers and whistles in his grove

under a silver oak
two lovers stretch out their arms
and a salmon leaps in the stream,
its scales the glittering jewels
of a rushing current

where does time dash off --
a glimpse into the river
and evening has come.
